Android is a mobile device operating system first released by Google on 23 September 2008, representing the primary competition to iOS. It uses the Linux kernel and the Android Runtime (ART) Java-compatible userland.
Multiple projects have worked on a port of the Android Open Source Project to iOS devices:
- iDroid ported Android 2.3.2 "Gingerbread" to the first-generation S5L8900-based devices, with OpeniBoot bootloader and Bootlace installation tool, under the iPhoneLinux umbrella.
- Project Sandcastle, released by Corellium, ported Android 10 to A10-based devices.
