On 7 February 2018iBoot for iOS 9. The source code was confirmed to be genuine by Apple. Details of how it leaked were not disclosed. On the same day, Apple filed a DMCA takedown request to GitHub for the repository. Further takedown requests were filed for its forks.
, a user named "ZioShiba" leaked the source code forA report by Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai of Vice Motherboard found the leak was shared around in private for some time. It was in fact first shared publicly on 22 September 2017 , through a Reddit post that was automatically deleted due to lack of karma from a throwaway account. The linked file, hosted on Mega, was taken down at some unknown point.

Issues of Compiling The Source Code
According to Nyan_Satan's post on building iBoot, iBoot, and the SecureROM could not be built for devices newer than the A6 SoC targets due to "a lot of missing headers".
