iWeb was a website creation tool developed by Apple Inc. It was first released in 2006 as part of the iLife suite, a collection of creative applications for Mac users.

Key Features

  • Easy-to-use interface: iWeb allowed users to create websites without needing to know HTML or other web development languages.
  • Templates and themes: The application offered various templates and themes to help users get started with their website design.
  • Drag-and-drop functionality: Users could easily add text, images, videos, and other media to their website using a drag-and-drop interface.
  • Integration with other iLife apps: iWeb integrated seamlessly with other iLife applications, such as iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand, making it easy to add media to websites.
  • Publishing to MobileMe or FTP: Users could publish their websites to MobileMe (later replaced by iCloud) or via FTP to other hosting services.

Discontinuation of Apple iWeb

Apple discontinued iWeb in 2011, with the release of iLife '11. The company recommended that users transition to other website creation tools, such as RapidWeaver or Sandvox.

Although iWeb is no longer supported or updated by Apple, it remains a nostalgic reminder of the early days of website creation and the innovative approach Apple took to make web design accessible to a broader audience.
