Inferno 7B3366d

From The Apple Wiki

Inferno 7B3366d (169.34) is an internal Apple diagnostic firmware from the iOS 3.2 development cycle, confirmed running on a 1st generation iPad prototype. It is currently the earliest known Inferno build documented on any Apple device, and the only publicly known instance of Inferno OS operating on iPad hardware.

Details

The firmware boots directly into Inferno (utility), no SwitchBoard or any standard iOS UI. Upon launch, the device executes Apple’s internal Bonfire test suite and displays diagnostic output.

Screen Text:

  • OS Build: 7B3366d
  • Root: 2.54
  • Inferno Version: 169.34
  • Test State: Run Bonfire
  • Battery: xx%
  • Iteration: 0

The build operates in typical NonUI format, with no user interaction beyond visual status reporting. It features thermal controls and will shut down the device if necessary.

Technical Notes

  • 7B3366d falls within the internal iOS 3.2.x firmware range used during the original iPad’s development.
  • It precedes other documented Inferno builds such as 7C1023e, 8A2062a, and 10A23110z.
  • No IPSW or NAND dump of this build is currently available.
  • The Inferno and Root version numbers (169.34, 2.54) do not appear in any other public documentation.

Status

This firmware is not publicly leaked. It is preserved on a functioning iPad prototype.
