Installer 5 is an APT package manager, and successor to Icy. While it is named after the original Installer project, it does not use the Installer repository or packaging format, instead opting to use the well-established APT repository format and dpkg packaging format as used by Icy.

A project under the Installer 5 name was initially announced by RiPDev in 2014.[1] However, this iteration of the project was ultimately abandoned. In 2019, AppTapp (then named Infini-Dev) announced a new iteration of the project.

On 4 July 2019, Installer 5 beta 1 was released.[2]

On 12 January 2020, Installer 5 was released as a stable version.[3]
