(Redirected from Mac OS Classic)
Mac OS (initially System Software, retroactively referred to as Classic Mac OS) is the operating system first released for Mac hardware. It is regarded as the first operating system to bring graphical user interface paradigms, predominantly the mouse, to a wide audience. Its user interface is significantly modelled on Lisa OS, developed for the ill-fated Apple Lisa. It was replaced by Mac OS X in 2001, with the final classic version being Mac OS 9.2.2.
