turdus merula is a software utility that allows users to perform tethered and untethered restores (downgrades/upgrades) of iOS and iPadOS on Apple devices with A9 through A10X chipsets. It was developed by Mineek and kok3shidoll, with contributions from Clarity.

Unlike other tools such as futurerestore, turdus merula does not require a compatible Secure Enclave Processor (SEP) to function, enabling users to restore their devices to unsigned iOS versions that would otherwise be inaccessible. The tool supports both tethered downgrades (which do not require SHSH blobs but require a computer to boot) and untethered downgrades (which require valid SHSH blobs but allow the device to function independently after restoration).

The software is currently in active development, with plans for an open-source release in the future.
