Model Identifier source?

Hi there,

I'm curious about the source you use for the model identifiers?

For example, this page as the model identifiers, however Apple does not yet have these displayed (https://support.apple.com/en-us/108043), so I'm curious for my own knowledge :-)

For the most part, these all come from the BuildManifest.plist file that's contained within an IPSW or OTA for a device. To pair it up with a device name, usually that's determined by examining the strings within the DeviceTree img4 files and matching is done based on what board ID is in the specific DeviceTree filename ROSeaboyer (talk) 14:54, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
