Unlisted apps on the App Store can't be discovered through browsing the App Store, but are still available by opening a direct link. The purpose of this feature is to allow companies to distribute their app to a limited audience of customers or partners, without needing to register all relevant devices in the company's Apple Developer account, use enterprise certificates, or use unsupported means such as sideloading.
It should be noted that unlisted apps are intended for business-to-business or education purposes, and is not intended for more general use cases, such as distributing beta app builds without using TestFlight.
Apps become unlisted by submitting a request to Apple to enable the feature.
