Apple Watch Diagnostic Port

From The Apple Wiki
Apple Watch Series 1 with an Exposed Diagnostic Port.

The Apple Watch Diagnostic Port can directly interface with all Apple Watches up to the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE (1st generation) through an Apple Watch Restore Tool (AWRT) for software restoration or diagnostic purposes.

The port has undergone several revisions across the Apple Watch's History. Starting with a 6 Pin style connection in the Apple Watch (1st generation) to the Series 1, a 5 Pin style connection in the Series 2 and 3, and a "New Style" revised 6-pin connection for the Series 4 up to the Series 6 and SE (1st) until the new Wireless Solution found in the Series 7 onwards utilizing 60.5 Ghz Wireless Technology to interface with the supported Watches.

The Wireless Solution is a lesser-known successor to the original Diagnostic Port. Unfortunately, unlike its predecessor, it is rarer to find and when it is found it usually doesn't go as cheaply as its older variant.

Below is the Apple Watch Restore Tool Compatibility Table, which matches the Pins and "Style" pictured in the images when buying an AWRT for your particular Apple Watch. No other Variants appear to exist for the Wireless AWRT.
