Apple Devices is a Windows iOS device management application, released as part of Apple's split of iTunes into separate apps. It is exclusively published through the Microsoft Store for 64-bit installations of Windows 10, version 22H2 and later. The app is unique to Windows, because device management functionality is found in Finder on macOS.
Like the build of iTunes released through the Microsoft Store, Apple Devices makes use of an embedded copy of Apple Application Support, and its components such as MobileDevice. Unlike iTunes, which is built on a port of macOS's AppKit to Win32, the Apple Devices app has been rebuilt using the Windows Runtime and Windows UI Library. It makes use of the same AMPDevices core frameworks as Finder does.
The app initially appeared on 15 January 2023 as a "preview". On 7 February 2024, the app exited preview, becoming the recommended method of syncing iOS devices on Windows. iTunes continues to be supported for users of 64-bit installations between Windows 10, version 1709 and 21H2, and 32-bit installations of any update to Windows 10.[1]
