List of iPod minis

There are two major iterations of the iPod mini. The product line was superseded by the iPod nano.

iPod mini

The iPod mini was released as a lower-cost variant of the iPod (3rd generation), making use of 1.0″ Microdrives, rather than the main iPod line's 1.8″ drives, to prioritise portability over capacity. The first-generation iPod mini was the first iPod to implement the now-iconic click wheel, integrating four clickable navigation buttons built into a touch-sensitive plastic dial. The iPod mini was also the first iPod to use an anodized aluminium unibody, a design continued by the iPod nano and iPod shuffle.

The second-generation iteration provided longer battery life (from a quoted 8 hours on the 1st generation to 18 hours on the 2nd generation), and tweaked the click wheel lettering to match the device body color. The pink, blue, and green variants use a brighter body color than their first-generation counterparts.
